Smothered Asparagus

2 bunches of fresh Asparagus, trimmed

1/2 pound Bacon

1/3 cup or less Brown Sugar ( I used less than a teaspoon.)

1/8 cup butter, melted

1/8 cup soy sauce ( in my opinion, 1/16 of a cup would be sufficient)

3/4 teaspoon or more Garlic Powder ( I used the 3/4 teaspoon.  next time i will be using a full teaspoon)

9 X 13 oven safe baking pan

large skillet

small bowl

paper towel

HOW TO:    oven @ 350°

Cut trimmed asparagus into 1 inch pieces and place in a 9X13 pan.  Set aside.

Cook bacon in a large skillet until almost done but not too crispy.  Remove bacon from skillet and drain bacon on paper towel.  chop or crumble bacon.  Sprinkle bacon bits over the asparagus.  Set aside.

in a small bowl, combine and whisk together:  brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce and garlic powder.  Pour over asparagus.

Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
