Peanut Blossom Cookies

A special thanks to Carrie D for sending me the recipe that I had misplaced!!

Peanut Blossoms

  • Servings: a small batch around 30 cookies

1 & 3/4 cups of flour

1 teaspoon soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup peanut butter (I substitute with almond butter because hubby does not tolerate anything peanut.  They tasted great!)

1/2 cup sugar  plus extra for rolling

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons of milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

about 30-40 hershey kisses (Buy a large enough package and give the extras to your favorite person  🙂    My favorite is my grandson.  hehe

HOW TO

oven at 375°

Cream shortening and peanut butter.  Gradually add sugar and brown sugar.  Cream well.  Add egg, milk and vanilla.  Blend in dry ingredients.  Mix well.  Shape in balls.  Roll in the extra white sugar.  Bake as a cookie “ball” (dont press down on them…yet) on ungreased cookie sheet for 9 minutes. Start unwrapping the hershey kisses while the cookie balls are baking. Remove the cookie balls from oven and place a kiss (the chocolate kind of  kiss 🙂 on each cookie ball and press down until edge of cookie cracks around the edge a bit.  Return to oven and bake an additional 3 minutes.
